• Nectarines
    Higher more consistent arrival pressures
By moderating the ethylene levels during shipping and storage, ripening is slowed and fruit remains firmer.
  • Nectarines
    Sweet and full of flavour
RYPEN enables natural ripening for true taste, texture and aroma development.
  • Nectarine
Protecting fruit at every step of the journey
From the grower to the consumer, RYPEN products offer protection throughout the supply-chain.
  • Leaf

The solution for a wide range of produce packed in cases, or in bags. Providing simple-to-use and highly-effective ethylene moderation in storage and during transit.

Recent research clearly shows ethylene affects sugar metabolism in both climacteric and non-climacteric fruit. Early harvest of the fruit, deprives the fruit from the ability to fully develop and produce eating quality that will grow and further develop the category. Ethylene control allows growers to mitigate the risk of harvest more physiologically mature fruit and deliver better eating quality and manage the risk of the ethylene associated with storage and transit.

  • Ethylene evolution rate in nectarines increase with an increase in temperature and storage time thus decreasing fruit quality and shelf-life (Article, Jayarajan and Sharma, 2018)

Higher brix scores indicate improvements in fruit sweetness. This illustrates the benefits of enabling natural ripening in a controlled way, which enables fruit to remain at its peak for longer.
  • 17% higher brix
  • 28% increase in fruit pressure
  • Up to 60% reduction in defects

Nectarines and Peaches are highly sought after for their refreshing taste and nutritional benefits, driving significant global demand. Stone-fruit cultivars, including peaches, nectarines, apricots, plums and cherries, are popular for their pleasingly juicy, sweet, and tangy flavours.

Commercial varieties of nectarine and peach are many, but most are cross-pollinated ‘hybrids’ developed over periods as long as 10 years to create juicy and aromatic eating qualities such as ‘Honey Blaze’, ‘Arctic Rose’, FireBright (nectarine), and Elberta, FlavourRich, GeorgiaBelle, GoldPrince (peach), all offering enhanced sweetness, juicy flesh and improved shelf life.

The global export season peaks from May to September in the Northern Hemisphere and from November to February in the Southern Hemisphere. Major export regions include Spain, the United States, South Africa and Chile.
